Royal Jelly

The Queen’s Food

What exactly is Royal Jelly?

Royal jelly (also called queen feed or queen bee jelly) is the secretion produced by honeybees to feed their queen. This mixture is obtained from the secretions of the hypopharyngeal and mandibular glands of worker bees and is used to feed bee larvae during the first three larval stages. After this initial feeding, worker bee larvae receive only pollen and honey, whereas the queen larva continues to be fed royal jelly until her cell is capped.

Some of the most interesting facts include that the queen larva reaches 800 times its initial weight within just a few days and has the ability to lay up to 2,000 eggs daily. Additionally, the queen bee lives about 50 times longer than her worker counterparts. It is well established that royal jelly contains amino acids, vitamins, minerals, trace elements, and enzymes. Particularly noteworthy is the free fatty acid 10-HDA (10-Hydroxy-2-decenoic acid), which is very rare in nature but found in high concentrations in royal jelly. Royal jelly is valued for enhancing physical and mental performance as well as supporting the body’s natural regeneration.

Our Portfolio

Royal jelly is very popular for use in dietary supplements and cosmetic products.

We assist with implementation and offer the right products for the intended use. The positive properties of royal jelly for the bee can therefore also benefit humans.

Royal Jelly

Fresh / Native

Royal jelly is harvested in specialized beekeeping operations. Fresh royal jelly consists mostly of water and should ideally be stored frozen. If kept in the refrigerator, it is recommended to use the product within a short time. To harvest royal jelly, the queen bee is removed from a colony, and pre-made queen cells are placed into the hive. To isolate the jelly, the queen larvae must be removed after three days. During a single beekeeping season, a colony can be encouraged to produce approximately 500 grams of royal jelly.

With us, you can obtain fresh/native royal jelly in well-packaged, deep-frozen 1-kg containers. These are easy to handle and are shipped to you within a very short time.

Royal Jelly

Lyophilized / Powder

Through the process of freeze-drying (lyophilization), moisture is removed from fresh royal jelly, which consists of about 67% water. The result is a crystalline powder with a higher concentration of the rare and valuable free fatty acid 10-HDA. Freeze-drying not only extends the shelf life of royal jelly but also broadens its range of applications. In powder form, it can be processed more efficiently and can be rehydrated back to its original state by adding water.

The freeze-dried royal jelly is also always available in airtight, light-protected 1-kg containers.
