Nothing is as unique and powerful as nature. It is the source of all life and immeasurably rich in valuable treasures. The bee draws on these treasures to create propolis, royal jelly, pollen, bee venom, wax, and honey. These precious natural substances serve the bee as building materials, a highly effective antibiotic, and, above all, as superfood. Bees have preserved this knowledge for millions of years and have withstood all environmental changes ever since. It’s no wonder that more and more people are turning back to the power of nature. This is in the spirit of the wise Hippocrates, who aptly said:
“Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food.”

Our History

1980s

Beginnings – Founding and Early Years

After the company was founded on January 8, 1981, by Walter Götze—a trading expert in import and export within the food industry with global connections—ALLWEX initially distributed products such as coffee, ice cream, and honey. When a friend of Walter Götze’s, Danish amateur beekeeper and municipal director Lund Aagaard, told him about the difficulties he was facing in sourcing propolis for his research, Walter Götze offered his support and helped deliver the required quantity of propolis to Denmark.

1990s

A Time of Change – A New Owner

As renowned manufacturers of pharmaceutical products began showing interest in propolis and other bee products, Walter Götze expanded this line of business, becoming one of the first major suppliers of propolis in Germany. After his passing in 1991, his heirs sold the company on July 1, 1992, to Hartmut Schreiter, who set out with a clear mission: to promote the acceptance of bee products and to develop new markets for these valuable natural substances.

2000s

Specialization – Focus on the Bee

Through the systematic and worldwide exploration of new raw material sources, Hartmut Schreiter succeeded in sourcing increasingly higher-quality propolis, thereby establishing a position as a supplier of premium-quality products. To further improve quality, the company played a key role in developing a new purification process for propolis. ALLWEX became a respected member of recognized professional associations such as the International Honey Commission and actively participated in their research groups focused on bee products.

2010s

Goodbye Hamburg – Welcome to Bremen

On January 1, 2013, roha arzneimittel GmbH, a leading manufacturer of propolis products in the German market, took over the company. With the acquisition, the company relocated to Bremen and now manages the global operations in the bee products market from this partner Hanseatic city. This, along with the regular analysis of propolis samples from around the world, has enabled ALLWEX to establish a very high-quality standard for propolis. Another important step was the processing and refinement of raw materials into semi-finished products, as required by the industry for further manufacturing into finished goods.

Today

Growth and Change – New Paths

On January 1, 2022, longtime authorized officers Hannes Heinsohn and Adam Maciejewski took over the shares of ALLWEX Food Trading GmbH. In addition to further developing raw material sources and continuously optimizing the semi-finished products made from them, ALLWEX is increasingly focusing on the needs of end consumers and providing more solutions in the private label sector. As a result of continuous progress and growth, more than 50 different products are now available, which ALLWEX distributes domestically and to over 20 countries worldwide across various industries.
